Who We Are
AmiPatterns is a free crochet patterns site run by a small team of makers. We cover amigurumi and crochet keychains — the kind of projects that don’t take weeks to finish but still feel worth making when you’re done.
We test every pattern ourselves before publishing it. If the shaping is off, if the assembly order is confusing, if the stuffing collapses — we fix it before it goes up. What you find here is what actually worked.
Free Crochet Patterns — Always
Every single pattern on this site is free. No account needed, no email required, no paid tier hiding the good stuff. You open the page, you read the pattern, you make the thing. That’s the whole process.
We chose to keep it this way because crochet is better when it’s accessible. Not everyone wants to subscribe to something just to make a tiny frog on a Saturday afternoon. We get that, and we built the site around it.
Beginner-Friendly Amigurumi Patterns
A lot of what we publish is designed with beginners in mind. Not dumbed down — just written clearly. We explain where to place safety eyes, how to stuff without lumps, when to increase and when to hold. The steps that most patterns skip over are usually the steps we slow down on.
If you have never made a crochet amigurumi before, this is a good place to start. If you have been crocheting for years, you will still find patterns here worth your time.
Crochet Keychains & Small Projects
We publish a lot of crochet keychain patterns because they hit a sweet spot — quick to make, easy to gift, and small enough that you can finish one in an evening. A penguin on your bag. A tiny star on your keys. A cat that your friend immediately wants one of.
Small projects are also a good way to practice without committing to something large. A keychain lets you get comfortable with a new stitch or a new shape without spending a week on it.
The People Who Use This Site
Our readers come from all over. Some are beginners who found us while searching for their first amigurumi pattern. Some are experienced crocheters who want something quick to work on between bigger projects. A lot of people come here specifically to make gifts — handmade things that actually get used, not just admired once and put away.
What we did not expect when we started was the comments section. People share what they made, swap tips on yarn substitutions, help each other troubleshoot. It has turned into a small community that we did not plan for but are glad exists. If you have made something from one of our patterns, you are part of that.
What’s Coming Next
We add new patterns regularly. Some weeks it’s a keychain, other weeks it’s a full amigurumi with more detail. If there’s something specific you want to see, the comments section on any post is the best place to ask — we read them and take requests seriously.
Browse the patterns, pick something that looks right, and go make it.
